Dominating a hillside in Hong Kong’s New Territories, opposite Fanling, the Fung Ying Seen Koon Temple is believed by many to be the dwelling place of immortals. This important Taoist temple was founded in 1929, built in traditional Chinese design and supported by striking red pillars of stone. Its classic structure and bright colours encourage you to climb its many steps, and it is well worth the physical effort. In addition to the temple itself there are fantastic views across to the tall skyline of Fanling, and a whole row of charming Zodiac animals.
2018 is the Year of the Dog, and the Pig will take over in February 2019. For the legendary dragon, a major character in Chinese mythology, we have to wait till 2024.
