Shadow of the evening

“Friendship is the shadow of the evening, which increases with the setting sun of life” – Jean de la Fontaine

Ailsa’s new theme brought to mind immediately, Josep Llimona’s statue of Ramon Berenguer seated on his proud horse on Via Laietana in Barcelona.

Regular readers will know already that I am very fond of Barcelona.   I pass this statue frequently as it stands on the busy Laietana, close to the Cathedral.  It is most striking at night, when it casts a stunning shadow onto the building behind and is a visual highlight in my evening stroll from the restaurants of Argentaria and El Born back to the Cathedral.
