Many thanks to Francisco at Pankcho Photo for alerting me to this new ice cream shop in Barceloneta. I immediately put it on my “to eat” list for my next trip and, I can assure you, it was worth it.
As you enter you collect an eco-friendly cardboard tray with ice cream bowl and space for smaller dishes of toppings. Choose your flavours and off you go.
With 7 flavours of ice cream
and many more toppings
your chosen dessert is as individual as you; it can be as traditional or as crazy as you like.
The Taiwanese-style ice cream is shaved from a frozen block of your selected flavour, and is surprisingly creamy.
Crunchy sugar eyes add the finishing touch.
The shop and product design lives up to its claim of coolness. The owners Joad López and Federico Mendoza enlisted the help of the design duo marion + merche (who also did the product design for Happy Pills). On top of the cool design, the food looks and tastes good and the service is efficient and friendly. And at €4.30 I felt it was good value too.
It was a chilly evening to sit by the sea eating ice cream, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and was rewarded with a great view too.
