In the heart of Paris’ Marais district, stands this marvellous fig tree. Strangely, I had never stopped to think where or how the famous fig leaf of Biblical days grew. In fact, they grow on a magnificent tree, one that grows as high as 10 meters and has an attractive smooth, white bark. You can see why the glossy, green leaves were chosen as makeshift underwear back in the day; they really are the perfect shape.
