As this wet, cold, grey winter drags on and on I am really missing the Mediterranean sun and my thoughts wander to one of my favourite cities, Marseille.
When Nancy challenged us to show some colour shots converted to black and white, I though immediately of Marseille’s Cathédrale de la Major; its strong patterns and colour contrasts should make it the perfect candidate for a monochrome makeover.

Although I like it in black and white, the version below is my favourite – it is the original colour version, but cropped to remove the bright sky; this way its muted tones stand out nicely, no colour editing needed.
