Takeaway Japanese Style

Here at Mount Fuji’s Fifth Station, this take away stall was doing a roaring trade as hordes of walkers prepared for their climb.

Trade was quieter, though, on the Hozu River as they waited for passing boats.

    1. If you do decide to climb, try to pick a quiet time – not a Japanese holiday period. I was shocked by the number of people here.

    1. Depends where you start from! Anywhere between 5 and 10 hours depending on which 5th station you use and your fitness. Coming back down would normally take 2-5 hours. People normally climb overnight and sleep awhile in a mountain hut en route, arriving at the summit in time to see the sunrise.
