Here at Mount Fuji’s Fifth Station, this take away stall was doing a roaring trade as hordes of walkers prepared for their climb.
Trade was quieter, though, on the Hozu River as they waited for passing boats.

Most interesting! Love that there is a boat takeaway :).

It’s little finds like that that make my day when travelling.

Takeaway on a boat is something different. I wouldn’t mind having a go at Mount Fuji,

If you do decide to climb, try to pick a quiet time – not a Japanese holiday period. I was shocked by the number of people here.

How long does it take to climb Fuji?

Depends where you start from! Anywhere between 5 and 10 hours depending on which 5th station you use and your fitness. Coming back down would normally take 2-5 hours. People normally climb overnight and sleep awhile in a mountain hut en route, arriving at the summit in time to see the sunrise.
