    • If you do decide to climb, try to pick a quiet time – not a Japanese holiday period. I was shocked by the number of people here.

    • Depends where you start from! Anywhere between 5 and 10 hours depending on which 5th station you use and your fitness. Coming back down would normally take 2-5 hours. People normally climb overnight and sleep awhile in a mountain hut en route, arriving at the summit in time to see the sunrise.
