Was it worth the effort?
I’m not tall and I’m no mountaineer, so I left Plaza de la Armería and went next door to the grounds of the Royal Palace, where there was no fence, and yes:
Travel with Intent 
The walk next door was definitely worth it. Gorgeous view.

LOL – I was there. I didn’t think to go next door. I just held my camera up over and took a random photo over the wall. I might have been on the lamp post, I remember standing on something.
