At long last, the glass floor is open at the Eiffel Tower.

I had been checking on progress on each of my recent visits and a few weeks ago I looked up to see some see-through bits at the corners and feet standing on those see-through bits.  So on my trip last week I headed up to check it out.

The first thing I should say is, it’s not that big! So for those that are scared of heights, as I am, you don’t need to avoid the first level – there is plenty of solid floor still.

The glass is at the interior corners and edges and is actually spotted, not entirely clear.  Combine this with reflections and rain and the view isn’t necessarily all that clear, especially at night – again, good for vertigo sufferers.  Getting a photo to demonstrate the view was pretty tricky as there’s not much room to focus between the dots.

The railing around the hole in the centre is also made of glass and provides some fun and rather less dizzying views.
