Not Quite Gone, and Not Forgotten

The famous Inspector Rebus may be past retirement age now but he hasn’t quite vanished from the pages of Edinburgh fiction, and he certainly isn’t forgotten.  Many fans still pop into the Oxford Bar in Edinburgh to sit where he whiled away many an hour, in the hope, perhaps, of catching a glimpse of his creator, Ian Rankin.

Exit Music (the clue is in the name, or is it?), the 17th Rebus novel, was thought to be the last of the series, but then at the 2012 Hay Festival Rankin announced a further book, Standing in Another Man’s Grave, which was released in November 2012.  A further episode, Saints of the Shadow Bible, followed in 2013.

If you have enjoyed the novels and are lucky enough to get toEdinburgh, there are a number of Rebus tours available and this Edinburgh map will help you place the books’ locations.
