Istanbulites love their pickles!
Pickles of all colours, shapes and sizes.
Even pickled pine cones – for their pickle juice, not to eat, I hasten to add.

I wondered about that pine cone when I saw it. I’m glad you cleared things up!
Pickled lemons are great!

Oh yes, I love them!
I would imagine drinking the pine cone juice would be a bit like drinking disinfectant!

I think I love the look more than I would love the taste. I do love pickles but I think I am pretty conservative in what is pickled. The juice… no way. I will pass when in Turkey… which hopefully is this year or next. Thanks for the lovely pics as always. 🙂

Wonderful entry, Debbie! What does pickle pine juice taste like?

I wasn’t brave enough to try! In fact, I didn’t see it on sale other than here in the big jars. Whereas pickled turnip juice was everywhere. But I didn’t try that either!!

It does not surprise me 🙂 I am a very picky eater, but I love eating brains…

I think it is a cultural thing. These days it is very rate to see brain on a menu or in a shop. But when I was at school we had it for school lunch.

What a colourful display of pickles! It looks like they pickled almost everything. Would love to try and taste every single one of them.

I do quite like pickles – and I’ve never seen a range like this before – but drinking the juice doesn’t do it for me!

Love the quote, Debs 🙂 And don’t they make wonderful subject matter? I haven’t got much past gherkins 🙂

Nor me. And that’s just eating. I’ve never done any pickling myself. My mum used to pickle herrings and I hated the smell. I wS never sure when I came home from school whether I’d be greyed with pickle smells or cake smells!
