Low Key at Noho

Daytime street art at Noho, Manchester, 2014

In Manchester’s bubbling Northern Quarter, the shutters at NoHo are attractively decorated, with a real hint of promise as the sun sets. The shutters of this independent bar soon open up to invite the youngsters in for a fun evening. It is located in a Grade II listed building, with floor to ceiling windows, traditional architecture and more interior murals.  The image above may be low key, but the bar itself is not.

This mural is by Tankpetrol, an artist born in 1982 in Poland as Irek Jasutowicz and now based in Manchester, UK.  Tank creates work inspired by women’s portraits, mixed with geometric shapes and animals.  He uses a wide variety of techniques and materials, including  stencils, fonts and traditional paint. He works on a wide range of projects, including pieces for companies including Channel 4, Diesel, San Disk and Red Bull, and he has exhibited his work around the world.
