Nesting Herons

The grey herons that visit St Albans every winter are doing very nicely, with at least six of the nesting couples now sitting on eggs.  They keep pretty well hidden in the trees on the island in Verulamium Lake , but this one was down below, enjoying the sun.

My lens isn’t good enough for super close ups, but the RSPB pop along each weekend this month and their telescopes give us all great views of our visiting friends.

  1. I got so frustrated in South Africa, when I couldn’t zoom in enough to make good pictures. Now I’m sorted for our next trip 🙂 2000mm! Should be good enough. #SaturdaysCritters

  2. Beautiful, Debbie! Many thanks for being a part of Seasons this week!

There is one thing though – please go to my blog to the post “Seasons – April, Need for Cover?” and click on “click here” typed in red, on the bottom of the post.
A new window opens and fill in your info. Choose for “Web” or “file.”
A new window opens and your pics from your media Libraray show up.
Choose one of the pics, and the click will show you to resize the photo. the click will link them to the thumbnail display of the V20 Linky list. Voila, you’re done!
Don’t worry if it takes you some time:).
(I think you used the same Linky List before for your Thursday challenge Up Down View)

    • I’d like them less camouflaged! I’m waiting for a new Sony lens to come out, but I don’t think it will appear before the herons leave! But there’s always next year’s visit
