Heritage-endowed Belem

Belém, on the western side of Lisbon, contains the largest concentration of museums in Portugal and is viewed by many as having the biggest cultural heritage of the capital. It is a fantastic place to visit for both its beauty and its history, plus its cakes (but more about that soon).

The image above shows the view from the top of the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, with the splendid Jerónimos Monastery centre back.

  1. Isn’t it just? 🙂 🙂 Endowed, that is. Fantastic use of that effect again, and I’m severely jealous. I never did get to climb that tower or visit the monastery. I must remedy that! 🙂
