The Winter Palace in Şəki, was recently renovated and is open to the public, and a photo permit is available for a small fee. One of the rooms contains some wonderful murals, whereas the others have smooth white walls that receive their daily decoration from the light that oozes through the stunning stained glass windows, known as shabaka.

To the left of this image, you see a recently reconstructed door at the top of the stairs and a passage through to a neighbouring room to the right. More importantly, the fabulous colours clearly demonstrate that the Khan had good taste in his choice of decoration.
