Renowned Victorian artist and sculptor, GF Watts (1817-1904), made his last submission to the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition in 1904, the year of his death. It was a bronze cast of his Physical Energy plaster model, a striking equestrian sculpture.

113 years later, a new bronze cast of that piece stands back at the Royal Academy, welcoming all who enter the courtyard on Piccadilly.

A stunning sculpture and full of movement – if that is possible for something so static! #MySundayPhoto

Have you been to Compton and seen the Watts gallery, Debs?

No, I hadn’t heard of it until the background reading on this one. This latest cast was commissioned by them and will move to its permanent home at Compton. Have you Sue, and is it good?
