–Ix-Xewkija, one of the oldest villages of Gozo, is home to the island’s largest church which proudly features the third largest unsupported dome in the world.–
The dome of St John’s is visible in any view across the island, and I knew I had to climb to the top before I left. I hadn’t expected this open spiral staircase, which was waiting on top of the dome. Clambering up it isn’t too bad. Coming down is a different matter!

Hi Debbie,
Oregon has lots of places we can climb using stairs. Enjoy!

Lovely photo, I love Gozo. I loved it so much in Gozo I named one of my cats after it.

What a beautiful staircase!
My contribution required LOTS of climbing on everyone’s part for this shot.

I wouldn’t be doing that climb!

I wouldn’t be worried about the spiral per se but about the flaking paint and that possibly hiding a brittle step …
I had to go back to winter time for my photos today but with the heat we are having it was a welcome relieve: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2019/06/30/playing-can-be-hard-work/

I would get a “Drehwurm” ggoinh up these stairs. Sorry, I can’t find a translation.

Apparently you got it already thinking about it judging by “ggoinh” :-D.
“Vertigo” is the closest I can think of. But a boring expression compared to “turning worm” 😀

I tried to correct it… Maybe it is a word which should be integrated in the English language…

You can’t change it but Debbie could do it for you. But I think it fits your sentence perfectly!

Having fallen off a ladder three months ago and still recovering you wouldn’t get me up that spiral staircase these days.
