Now, many of you may be shouting, “riverlight isn’t a real word”, but it is. It is the name of a former 5-acre industrial estate, now a residential area, close to Battersea in London.
Riverlight residential area, Nine Elms, London, November 2019
Riverlight is the work of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, and you may well recognise some aspects of their work. They are responsible for many structures that you may be familiar with, such as Melbourne metro, the Millennium Dome, Bordeaux Law Courts, International Towers Sydney and 3 World Trade Centre. For me, there’s also a big design link to the Pompidou Centre, and there’s a reason – that was the creation of Rogers and Piano.

Out of pure curiosity, how much does it cost to live there? Love the word 🧡

River light sounds a ton more welcoming than Battersea? 😊😊

I like Battersea. I wouldn’t mind a Gehry apartment there. But my bank account doesn’t agree 😟

Thinking about it, for anyone not familiar with the area Riverlight could sound more real than Battersea.

Of course it’s a word Debbie. Becky’s idea of ___light was just a suggestion after all 🙂

The first thing I thought was Pompidou Centre so glad I was not too far off with my impulse thought!
