Shanghai Transrapid, May 2018
In a rush to get to the airport? Then this is the train for you.

It runs between Longyang Road Station (on the outskirts of Pudong) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. It opened in 2004 and is the oldest still operational maglev. It is not a busy service, probably due to the outlying position of the start point. I went on it for the ride, but did not use it to get my flight. The thought of dragging my luggage across the city by metro, and finally connecting to the high speed element did not appeal. But for a transport experience, comfort and views, it was great.

The best way. I’m feeling an urge to go a train in a snowy landscape!

That would be wonderful, but I’m thinking closer and cheaper!
