Pedley Street, off Brick Lane, London, January 2020
Daniel Gilbert House, just off Brick Lane, has been doubly decorated with two contrasting pieces of art.
Ed Hicks‘ mountainous landscape is calming, with curvaceous flowers in the foreground and gentle colours leading us out into the distance. He certainly enjoys his landscape work, but that is not his only popular theme. He also produces mass and some quite scary images of faces and skulls.
On the right hand wall, we have the energetic work, I dream of balloons, of Jim Vision, another British street artist. Bright and dramatic are good words to describe his work. This piece was made in conjunction with Fanakapan, who is particularly well known for his depictions of helium balloons, with High Five on show here.

Enjoying street art has become a regular event on my travels around the world: more of my findings can be seen here
For even more art, pop over to see Sami at Monday Mural
Still playing catch up, Debbie. Although the colors coordinate, the styles of the two artists are quite different. Each is unique in its own way, but I like the floral mural by Hicks best.

These are such huge murals. I have to search for this next time I get the chance to go there.

These are stunning. If this pandemic thing ends I will look for them next time I’m in London.

Another advantage of street art – it’s outdoors so safer than a gallery.

I have sent a link to your post to my son in London. I’m sure he will like to see this street art.

I was in London in november and I have photos of the flowers on the left wall. But nothing from the right wall. It’s unlikely that I missed it, hahaha, beautiful!

That is strange as it is definitely hard to miss. But the street and surrounding area is also covered in murals, so you may have been distracted. As far as I can tell (helped by Flickr and Instagram) this appeared in late 2019.

Ah, Jim Vision…certainly a man of drama, here are two I saw 6 years ago and sparked my interest in Street art : https://suejudd.com/2014/05/29/creativity-through-experimenting-with-shutter-speeds/

Going back in time! That was a great post and a good reminder to us all to be creative and brighten our lockdown days. I saw the blue ship one that you have there but I was year slower than you, Sue.

The floral design reminds me of The Great Wave off Kanagawa.

Huge murals! Both beautiful, but my favourite would be the one with the flowers.
