Bristol Harbour Railway, July 2020
The track seen here is part of the Bristol Harbour Railway, a heritage railway opened and operated by Bristol Industrial Museum in 1978.
The original Harbour Railway was a standard-gauge industrial railway that served the wharves and docks of Bristol, connecting the Floating Harbour to the mainline station at Bristol Temple Meads.
The line had a network of approximately 5 miles of track, and its connection to the mainline meant that freight could be transported from Bristol docks to London’s Paddington Station.
Although the original railway closed in 1964, this heritage section still operates on selected weekends and is a very popular visitor attraction.
