Cubic houses, Rotterdam, January 2020
I expect many of you remember these bright yellow houses in Rotterdam – I’ve shared views of them from a number of angles. My camera and I had a great but too-short trip to Rotterdam at the end of January and I was wowed by the exciting architecture that the city now has. getting to know the city and its friendly inhabitants made a great start to the year.
To cap off my year, I have just been told that one of my shots of the yellow cubic houses has been shortlisted in the architecture section of the British Photography Awards 2021, with proceeds going to the Shelter charity. Second round voting is now underway and the shortlisted photos are open for public voting for the People’s Choice winner. If you can spare a minute, please pop over to give me a vote. All votes will be very much appreciated. Thank you!
This is the one:

Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.
I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.
To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally – tweet, instagram, flickr, etc. with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS.

Thanks, Cee. It was a great place. I used to go there for work back in the 80s but never saw much of it – just the red light district and train station. It has changed a lot since then and I love it.

The angle is different and striking, it’s worth the recognition 🙂

Thank you, Sreejith. As you can imagine, I took lots of versions of this as it’s hard to get all of those angles looking good as well as having a good sky and some light and sky through the windows. I am so glad it has appealed to others.

Thank you, Debbie. The background shot is actually main. Sometimes, we point and shot people get lucky. When I was searching for a theme for this blog, I could see using this image, so as soon as I found this theme, I knew it was it.

There are some great ones. There are some horses in Patagonia that I love. And in the Fine art section there is a man in tartan trousers that I particularly like. And I love all the bird and wild animal shots, especially the puffin 😀

Congratulations, Debbie! Reaching the final round for the contest is well deserved. Hope you win your category for your geometric photo. That would be exciting. My six words are much more modest shots in a Wisconsin park from a lovely family walk. https://fakeflamenco.com/2020/12/05/when-the-sun-sets-at-425/
