Silver and gold bear much appeal, especially at this time of year. To my delight, they often appear as a duet:
O2 Arena (formerly Millennium Dome) at night, London
Silver skyline, looking at Pudong in Shanghai
Thames Barrier, London
And a twinkling musical treat:

that Thames Barrier one – fabulous. Long time since I was that far down on the Thames!

A calm night and a strong tripod! And thanks for the praise, Jo. Actually this weird year has turned up a bit of praise. I’ve just been shortlisted in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition and published in magazine (small run photography mag). No public vote for the TPOTY and I can’t share the photo but fingers crossed. X

Woo hoo, what exciting news, Debbie!! As for this post, I like that first photo, although I have no idea why those towers are all at angles. 🙂

They are the support pillars of the Millennium Dome, as it was called in its original life. Designed by Richard Rogers. Some of the silver streaks in the photo are the cables from those pillars.

That was on the overnight workshop with Gilliatt and Gibbins. Not sure if I told you but you can book Terry Gibbins for a private socially spaced drive and take photo session around London in his black cab. He’s a lovely guy and a great photographer so worth considering.

And my camera loves starbursts. Even at a wide aperture they will appear – even if I don’t want them!
