I’m weaning myself off my recent obsession with collective nouns, but gently, as you see. Why this tower was disguised as a giraffe, I do not know, but it caught my attention because tower, is used for a group of giraffes! Tower is used for stationery giraffes, journey for those on the move, and herd, troupe and even kaleidoscope get used too.

I am loving the “mechanical” version of the giraffe. Incidentally, I love visiting Malta.

I’ve never come across ‘Journey’ as a collective noun for giraffes, on the move or otherwise, Debbie. So it’s an amazing coincidence that Rich’s series books about my adventures around the Serengeti and the World are called Jaspa’s Journey! http://www.jaspasjourney.com/

Ah yes. You can use it in your marketing 🙂

Our kids called all these cranes “giraffes”, there must be a reason… Here is my tower: https://geriatrixfotogallerie.wordpress.com/2019/04/30/the-tower-of-a-castle/

Someone was having a lot of fun with that crane long before you had fun with “tower.” 🙂 I’m using “tower” as both a verb and a noun today. Cheers!

Lovely images Debbie I know the feeling about cranes… photographing in London is a nightmare with the number of cranes that up and spoiling cityscape shots… Many thanks for the mention. Here is my contribution for this week’s challenge.

love it when the themes connect – and seriously – how fun is this to have the giraffe crane (and did you hear the recent news that a crane feel in Seattle and killed four people – so sad – I think we take it for granted that they will stay upright and do their job safely – ugh – feel so bad)

A fascinating aspect of our language. Collective nouns were apparently first documented in a book printed in St Albans in the 15th century!
