Christmas at Kew 2020, London, December 2020
I was very lucky to get to the Christmas at Kew event this week. It has become one of my regular pre-Christmas events and I had booked my tickets in June, but never been convinced we’d get there. But my luck was in. The lights were as wonderful as ever, though all interiors were closed, and attendee numbers were reduced. I’ll be sharing a few highlights later this week, but I thought I’d kick it off with Santa Claus coming to town. The only difficulty is, will he have to quarantine?

We are in different levels of lockdown around the country, but the government moved London and surrounding areas into tight lockdown at midnight last night. This means everything but essential shops are closed and we aren’t allowed to stay away or meet other people. Health and caring are exceptions so I’m still hoping to be able to get out to help my mum.

They do all of there special displays incredibly well. The Christmas lights are special – but you’ll love the place whenever you manage to get there

WHO declared Santa is immune.
It will only be the two of us for Christmas, and I’m fine with that.

That’s quite a show! I’m glad you got to see it…and share it. Although David mentioned that Christmas is too obvious, I love Christmas and am going with it, too.

Currently figuring it out for us. Think we’ll be ok, but our youngest is affected as is one of my nephews.

We had already decided not to risk mixing so no impact on us. I’m assuming some people will be rushing out to buy their Christmas food today now they have to stay at home.

Indeed. We’re lucky not to have our own plans changed. That at least is something.

Well, same here, I always knew I was going to stay put, as they say…and I have a reasonable amount of food, as I don’t want to be doing last minute dot com

Yes. Such a disappointment for those who are going to miss it. And for Kew. They had to delay opening because of November lockdown and now close again. They’ve extended to late January but goodness knows how long this lockdown will actually last.
