I have been meaning to pull this together since the start of the year, but it has taken a while. Last week Tina suggested we pull together our favourites and finally I have my collection to share. I have gone with the 52, an idea pinched from a friend who recently posted his top 52 on Facebook. I must add that these are not necessarily my best 52, technically or artistically, they are my favourites. I have chosen ones that tell the story of the year, ones that I enjoy looking at, and ones that show the year still had some action and variety. 2020 was very different to previous years and very difficult at times.
The year started out as normal, with my usual wanders around London, and my January day trips to the coast. I nipped over to Rotterdam, which had been on my list for a while, and had a few days in Lisbon. By then the pandemic was well under way, and lockdown in the UK followed soon after. During various relaxations of of lockdown, I went into London, ventured up to Edinburgh-festival-less Scotland and popped over the channel to Brittany and Normandy. Hopefully you’ll get a feel for the changing seasons and moods as I run you through my year.

When I look back, summer looks quite normal. I forget all about the avoiding people bit, hiding in train and boat cabins, no pubs, only eating outside, rarely seeing friends. But I remember the strangers I’ve met on local walks and how much I love London. And also all the things I meant to do in first lockdown that I ready must do this time!

Splendid Debbie! The Rotterdam one always catches my eye, no matter how many other images are around it, one of your best works.

I really enjoyed these, Debbie, especially as I haven’t seen most of them. I love the wild-looking bird at St. Alban’s, the barbed wire, and the Rotterdam shot of the funky yellow apartments. 🙂

They may not all have appeared on the blog. And thanks – I got out for a walk with my camera! And there was sun and frost and mist. A great birthday present. 😀

Just skweezed it in, Debs 🙂 🙂 Hope you had a good birthday. Some wonderful images here. Soft spot for the blue reflected building in Lisbon but lots of goodies.

Hasn’t seen that building before. Not sure if I just hadn’t walked that way before or if it had been done up in recent years. What I do know is that I was very lucky to get to a favourite city just before lockdown.
