Rivington Street, Shoreditch, London, May 2017
This piece of street art depicts Michael Brown who was shot in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014. I came across this work in 2017, so it may have been triggered by the 2017 documentary film, Stranger Fruit.
The mural was the work of street artist, Bambi. Interestingly, her stencilling of five repeat figures in this way reminds us of Andy Warhol and his multiple gun-toting Elvis.

“You abuse your powers again and again
Another innocent unarmed soul is murdered in your name
Filthy blue lies flow and flow
You shot him six times for just jaywalking home
Left in a pool of blood on the street
But you think it’s just another day on the beat
Come on justice must be done or anarchy will bite you on the bum.”

What a powerful post. Over here in the US we marked the anniversary of the death of George Floyd yesterday. I posted 5 skulls today too just for fun. I’m wondering how to re do it. Perhaps I’ll add a link to your post. Thank you.
