This might look like a heavy load of washing out to dry, but it’s actually a tempting open air carpet stall at the bottom of Jebel Shams. These traditional products are handwoven from coarse goat hair in natural colours, carefully displayed at a key road junction on the tourist trail.

Love Oman though never been to that particular spot though. Spent a few years there: 1977-8 (Muscat) when it was still emerging from the middle ages and 1996-2000 (Thumrait).
