Where dark shadows lie

Bright is the earth where the dark shadows lie,

Cast by the beams of a glittering sky.

Praise for the shadows when earth days are done;

For the darker the shadows, the brighter the sun.

– from Shadows by Amos Russel Wells (1862 – 1933)

  1. I’m enjoying your foray into poetry, Debbie, and I love the lines of this shot. “Dark Shadows” makes me smile as many years ago there was a soap opera with that title. We didn’t have a TV but I saw some episodes and it was a blast. Nothing like a good vampire–the kind that sleeps during the day as it should not gallivanting about and shimmering and other non-vampire behavior that seems to happen these days, although I don’t really follow that sort of book or movie.
