    • I was brief too. Just did a day trip. Would like to go back and stay a night or two. It has a young and vibrant feel to it. There’s an area on the water where factories and warehouses have been turned into art workshops and the like. I didn’t have time to get out there. And the weather wasn’t encouraging either.

      • I would love to go back….that area on the waters sounds interesting……the GDR was filled with gloomy, polluting factories, and the area around Halle, not a million miles from Leipzig had some bad stats for lung disease

        • The only bit of GDR I got to see before unification was East Berlin. But I can imagine what it was like.
You came still see hints of the past in the architecture, and when talking to people of course, but otherwise I don’t think it’s obvious.
I haven’t had time to review my photos yet but I’ll share some soon.

        • I didn’t see the GDR before unification, but three years after, so so very little had changed then. When we returned 8 years later, the difference was palpable
