Interestingly, it was the lights outside the old Scottish Office that alerted me to the fact that this building is Art Deco. I think its sheer size and darkness made it feel old, gruff and more gothic than Art Deco.


You get more of an Art Deco / Streamline Moderne feel for the building in the image below, as it looked in 1939.

That is an amazing mix of Gothic & Art Deco. As Becky says, once clean it probably will shed its Gothic look 😃

I hope so too – but they probably won’t – it had a recent renovation but it didn’t include a clean!
