Graffiti and Grace

Peregrine Chick, by Ant Steel and St John Fisher Catholic Primary School in May 2023

Ant Steel is a St Albans based street artist who has been Artist-in-Residence at St Albans Cathedral since May. To mark the end of his residency the Abbey is hosting an exhibition, Graffiti and Grace, of his work which is on until 30 November 2023.

Born in Norwich, this artist spent 20 years in South Africa, got married in Romania and now lives in St Albans.

The pieces on show depict stages in his own life and growth. It includes pieces that he has created with the local community during his residency.

I have previously shown some of Steel’s work around St Albans: you can see the peregrine chick of 2022 here and Queen Elizabeth II here.
