Dressing up for all – dogs included

Dressing up costumes for both dogs and humans, St Albans Cathedral, Herts, March 2026

A fun activity for the Easter holidays perhaps – the children and their dogs can dress up in Roman, medieval and church-related costumes.

Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.

I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.

To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS. You’ll find me on Instagram @travel_travel_with_intent and @dsmythphoto

  1. I wish I had made a photo – 50 years ago, on a very wintry Sunday three friends of mine and I were walking through the woods, coming home from a morning cider in a small pub where music was made and songs were sund and we came upon this rather rotund woman in a green loden coat with a matching Tyrolean hat and her dachshund dressed in a matching outfit: a green loden coat with a green Tyrolean hat perched jauntily on his head. Us four youngsters stood in a half circle, looking down on the dog and laughing so hard. At the time dressed up dog were a lot less common. His mistress was not amused. But we just couldn’t stop. The picture has stayed in my mind forever. But – no camera.

    • I don’t like seeing dogs out walking and dressed to the nines. But letting them join in with the family for a few minutes is fine with me.
Not with my dog though, of course. He hates wearing anything. He’s not keen on wearing a collar and when he has a harness for the car he suddenly can’t walk! And as for doggie ice cream? – he only likes the human variety 😄
