The giants marching into town earlier this week ready for the Alban Day parade today, Saturday 20 June 2026
St Albans, Hertfordshire

Click here for information on the parade and the other events of the day.
Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.
I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.
To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS. You’ll find me on Instagram @travel_travel_with_intent and @dsmythphoto

They really are giant! I image it must be quite a challenge being inside those costumes. Mine is just what is happening on a very local level.

This looks like a fun day! I have a less fun giant on display – mosquitos are back in summertime. They can be annoying, they can leave bits – and the frustrating thing is that one can’t even hate them anymore since we are learning how important insects are for the ecosystem! (There, I got more than 6 words in, after all!) https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2026/06/20/the-giants-returns-for-summer-terror/

These are rather marvellous! Popular with the children, I imagine. Here is mine for today: https://suejudd.com/2026/06/20/some-flowers-surrounded-by-colourful-bokeh/

Yes, indeed – lots of children participate in the parade, and there’s plenty of activities for them too. And I think everyone enjoys the Roman gladiator’s eye popping out after he has beheaded Alban.

It’s a great way of commemorating Britain’s first saint and the very long history of the town
