The guardians of the Camargue still live in traditional white houses, that are as representative of the area as the famous white horses and black bulls.
The north side of the dwelling is rounded to better battle the persistent Mistral wind, and it is topped with a rye thatch roof with white whitewash and cement above that. The whole structure is topped with a cross.
