I found this friendly and tasty coffee shop on one of my recent meanders around Shoreditch. “Delectable books and coffee” they say on their website, and I wouldn’t disagree.
The ambience is relaxing, the coffee is good, and there are books to browse and buy. What more could anyone want?
Sorry?
Cake?
Oh, yes, there are cakes too. I certainly enjoyed my Portuguese nata.
Paper & Cup is a not-for-profit enterprise created by Spitalfields Crypt Trust, a local charity. So now cake doesn’t have to be a guilty pleasure!
And if you don’t have a sweet tooth, they also do soup, sandwiches and some great pies, such as butternut squash with goats cheese. A latte costs £2.20, as does a builders tea, a paperback is £1 and a hardback £3. Good value and a good cause.

One of my outlaws works in Shoreditch, I wonder if he’s spotted this little haven. Best not tell him, he might not get back to work.

You might be right. But I’d be interested to hear his views if he does know it.
