Blackheath Morris Men performing chair lifting on Easter Monday,
in front of the Cutty Sark at Greenwich, London, April 2026
The Blackheath Morris Men perform the old Easter tradition of chair lifting every year. This sees a woman being elevated on the Throne of Flowers belonging to Ēostre, the Anglo Saxon Goddess of spring.

Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.
I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.
To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS. You’ll find me on Instagram @travel_travel_with_intent and @dsmythphoto

This is so fun. Beautiful costume garb. Mine is also a lift of sorts. https://fakeflamenco.com/2026/04/11/never-know-when-youll-need-extra/

That’s interesting. So, anyone who wants can sit on the chair and the people would lift it? My entry here:

Well, if you waved your hand eagerly they might choose you. Each person was lifted, turned 360 degrees and lowered, three times.

Oh no! You’ll have to wait till next Easter for the chair lifting. But the Blackheath Morris Men often perform around Greenwich, starting at the Cutty Sark. They announce their appearances on Instagram. A fun group to see.

Hmm. We don’t do Easter in London as the family there chooses to go to one of the sets of grandparents, as both sets of us are country bumpkins with lambs and so forth to get into the Easter spirit with. We’ll catch them sometime.

But was it a real (reel sic!) Morris dance as they dance up in the Ramtops of the Discworld? 😄 — Here is my Easter sixxer: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2026/04/11/the-easter-tradition-of-fountain-decorating/

Is there a specific prompt–a word, or the photo above?

No, no prompt, just a six word title. Feel free to share whatever you like
