Margate is a coastal resort in Kent in the south-east of England. It has long been popular with Londoners seeking a seaside break, but it has long struggled against foreign competition. With efficient train services from London it still makes a perfect day trip.
It has a typical British seaside resort front, with amusement arcades, ice cream and fish and chips.
The bright pink umbrellas and orange doors on the harbour wall looked beautiful in the July sunshine, and the reflections in the shallow water caught my eye.

I’ll bet those bright colors are especially welcome on an overcast, grey day! Nice interpretation of today’s theme.

In all of my travels to England this is one place I’ve never been – thanks for sharing! I love the photo with the umbrellas reflecting in the wet sand.

Not on many tourists’ lists I think. But in fact it is a very easy day trip from London if you are here long enough to spare a day.

Great pic. This is my neck of the woods! If you have time – do go to Ramsgate or Botany Bay at Broadstairs!

Ok, I’ll take that advice, thanks. I live north of London, so I’ll do them on future day trips.

What a great colour for the parasols. A great place to find a sandy beach.

such an interesting place. I hope someone is keeping an eye on that child though. The childs clothes fits nicely into the overall color pattern. 🙂

It really does look neat to see the pink reflected in the water. I would be the one down there walking barefoot. I remember in the old movie, Pride and Prejudice, they were going to have to move to Margate when there daughter ran off with an officer….and didn’t get married! Scandalous! Enjoy your weekend!
