Everywhere I travel these days, I see people taking selfies. It is such a popular phenomenon that it is now in most dictionaries, and was even voted the word of 2013 by Oxford Dictionaries.
So I’ve decided to embrace the phenomenon and post a selfie a month. Not normally a selfie of me, but a selfie of others. No doubt there’s a term for that too.
Where better to start this selfie odyssey, than in Manchester, the Selfie Capital of Europe. According to research carried out by TIME Magazine, Manchester’s 114 selfie-takers per 100,000 capita makes it the 7th most popular place in the world for selfies, and the top in Europe. Makati City in the Philippines came top of the world with 258 selfie takers per 100,000 capita. To see the full list and to see how your own city fares in the selfie league table, click here.
I will post my selfie on the last day of each month – if you’d like to join in with me, please post any time in the following month, add your URL in a comment below and remember to link back to this post.

What a terrific idea! I’m going to start looking for people taking selfies now just for this. But is it ok if we post our own selfies if we don’t have a ‘themselfie?”

Well, here you are… my selfie post for this month. It is not a ‘themselfie’, I’ll have to keep an eye out for one for next month. But it does feature some other bloggers’ selfies.

Nice idea, Debbie! “Other-selfies”? Themselfies? Will think about it, though I tend to only do things, “the little things in life”…
