Raising the Bar in Venice

-Look Up, Look Down Challenge, Week 41

Every Thursday, I publish a post containing photo(s) taken from above or below, and invite you to join in the challenge by posting your own photos with an up or down perspective.

Venice is literally littered with bars, all plying their tourist-saving refreshments, usually accompanied by a little snack; maybe just be some salted crisps, or maybe some tasty cichetti (Italian tapas).

Looking up at the stunning architecture around St Mark’s Square, this particular bar caught my attention for its sign, more than its goods.  You’ll have to excuse the pigeons their brazen advertising of a well-known drinks brand because, that aside, this is a beautiful image looking down on an unusually peaceful St Mark’s Square.  And take a closer look at the surround for a sneek peak at the nearby buildings in reflection. ******************************************************************************** The Challenge

  1. This really is a wonderful image, pigeons included. I am enjoying the visit through your eyes to Venice. Thank you for this meme. It has brought a new perspective to our walks.

  2. Ah, Venice…an incredible city. For my 55yth birthday, I was determined to have a bellini at Harry’s Bar in Venice and that I did…rather disappointed, though…as I tasted ones I’d liked better in other locales. Venice was wonderful, nonetheless!
