London Blackfriars station has a lot to say for itself. It is located on Blackfriars Rail Bridge across the Thames, just a stone’s throw from the Shard and St Paul’s Cathedral. The trains stop on the bridge and passengers are treated to some of the best views of the river through the huge glass windows on either side of the station.
It has yet another claim to fame: it is the world’s largest solar bridge. The distinctive ridged roof actually consists of over 4,000 solar panels.
It is justifiably proud of this distinction and has some fun displays around to show how much energy has been generated each day.

Yes it’s a massive roof as it spans the river so it was a brilliant idea to put it to good use.

Isn’t it just. It is such a huge expanse across the river and now it is both beautiful and useful.
