We have some great place names in England. The best ones normally belong to villages or towns that are steeped in history. In the case of Steeple Bumpstead in Essex, Bumstead or Bumsted comes from the Anglo-Saxon for “place of reeds” and the Moot Hall here is recorded in the Domesday Book.
Linked to Which Way?

We really do have some great place names in England. There are some wonderful ones near York – I always loved Upper Poppleton and Nether Poppleton, and then there’s Fangfoss. Up here in the northern dales we have some cracking ones too including No Place and Pity Me 🙂

An interesting post. Maybe a new challenge – fascinating signposts or place names. 😀

Yes could be an idea. Cee already does her Which Way challenge, but place names could be an interesting one.

Yes, watch this space. When I have time I’m going to get out and about and get more shots of the places as well as the signs.
