The Labour Party in Belgium (Belgische Werkliedenpartij or Parti Ouvrier Belge) was founded in a cafe in the Grande Place in Brussels.
In April 1885, 112 workers came together in De Zwaan, which still stands there to this day.
It is also the location where Karl Marx is said to have written the Communist Manifesto and where he celebrated New Years Eve 1847.

I always enjoy a bit of history when I am catching up here. Thank you for the share and enjoy a wonderful week.

I like learning new things every day, thank you very much. I had no idea that Marx wrote his book in Belgium. Very interesting.

Didn’t know that about Karl Marx frequenting Belgium… The building front with the Swan is beautiful. and the pic sent to you of the guitarist is humorous:)

That guitarist pic is great isn’t it. It’s Frizz – you should check out his blog. He’s been learning to paint and he plays great guitar.
