Manchester’s Street Art Project

In Stevenson Square in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, you can enjoy the artistic products of an exciting project.

Stevenson Square was designated a conservation area back in 1987: it contains many, many buildings of historic significance, including a good selection of Georgian and Victorian properties.

More recently, the disused toilet block in the centre of the square has been transformed into an outdoor art gallery with a roof garden, where trees and edible plants now thrive.  The street art is thriving too, with local businesses supporting a regularly changing array of art work.  One of my favourite artists to appear in the area is Lispencie who has this on show currently in Stevenson Square:

The work on display changes every quarter and never disappoints.

  1. Do you know, I really must get myself to Manchester! A bit like you and the Algarve, Debbie, I’ve only ever been once. 🙂 Perhaps I’ll do the Christmas market this year. I’m not one to go looking for snow.
