This bench, and a few others close by, have turned their back on the incredible view of the Forth Rail Bridge.
But there are a few that face the bridge – what a relief!

Can people pick up the benches and turn them around? I can’t tell from the photograph.
At one of our beaches — Rehoboth Beach in Delaware — they have benches with backrests that can move forward and backward. This is useful if you want to face outward toward the Atlantic Ocean or watch people strolling along the boardwalk. We can probably send you some! 😉

They have seats on the trains in Australia that do that! So clever, you can have two facing if there are a few of you sitting together, or else move the seat to face the direction of the train. Please send us some benches!

Yes, seems strange to me, but perhaps the planners thin people prefer people watching to bridge gazing.
