Chagall Returns to Venice Beach

This 1996 mural is a revised repainting of ‘Marc Chagall Comes to Venice Beach’ (1991), after the 1994 earthquake forced the Israel Levin Senior Adult Center to make building repairs that destroyed the original mural. Much of the imagery comes directly from the work of Russian-Jewish painter Marc Chagall, dropped into a setting of Venice Beach.

Looking back at photos of this mural taken not long after it was painted, I can see that the colours have faded considerably, but I rather like these pastel tones.

  2. Hi Debbie,

I don’t see any difference; perhaps it’s my computer. In any case, I like this mural. Thanks for making Blue Monday special.

    Happy Blue Monday!
