This giant mural by Freddy Sam (real name Ricky Lee Gordon) dominates this side of an apartment block in Kadıköy, Istanbul.
Ricky is a self-taught artist born in Johannesburg in 1984 and now working and living in Cape Town, South Africa. His significant contributions to public art have put him on the CNN, Mail & Guardian’s ‘200 young people in South Africa who make a difference’ and on National Geographic’s list of ‘11 street art greats’.
His trademark large-scale murals can be seen in cities all over the world.

Wow!!! My photo of the day! What a superb piece of art, Debs 🙂

Murals like this create such sympathy for these giant creatures. At the rate they’re being poached, they may end up existing only in artistic images. Thanks for contributing to this week’s Monday Mural.
