Bitter and Sweet Pillars

These bittersweet pillars supported the 1864 Blackfriars railway bridge across the Thames.  They came in threes, and the third of each set has been used to help support the new bridge.  New Blackfriars is my favourite place to arrive in London as the platforms are on the  bridge and provide an excellent view up and down the Thames.

Hex colour reference:  #fd7c6e

A colourful note: the colour name bittersweet was first used in English in 1892 and became a Crayola colour in 1958.
