Banging His Head Against A Brick Wall

banging your head against a brick wall
English informal saying: to attempt something repeatedly but always without success

e.g. I’ve tried several times to cure my addiction to blogging but I’m banging my head against a brick wall!

This traditional English saying sprang immediately to mind when I happened across this colossal sculpture in Berlin.

The building he is attacking so vociferously is the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin.

There’s no hint as to the cause of his frustration, but given the way most of us now depend so much on technology, perhaps the phrase should now be banging your head against dawdling wi-fi
