A colourful note: it is amazing how many shades of orange colour are named after fruits and vegetables; the colour melon is apparently named after the interior flesh of the cantaloupe variety of the fruit. the first recorded use of the word melon as a colour in English was in 1892.
Melon became a Crayola colour in 1958.
