Margate draws me back repeatedly – a down-to-earth town with a gorgeous seafront, welcoming people and the Turner Contemporary.
Places with sea or river are always a delight for me, and I am equally attracted to artists who make us see the beauty of water. JMW Turner has always inspired me and, to my delight, the Turner Contemporary is currently exhibiting his work.

Needless to say, this is me not Turner! Margate, January 2015
JMW Turner: Adventures in Colour is on exhibit until Sunday 8 January 2017, and a section is devoted to some of the works he created in Margate.

Oh, I must get over to Margate one day….

How about a comma after “Don’t” and an exclamation mark after ‘Miss’? Wouldn’t it be a fetching first sentence in a novel?

I forgot Brits wouldn’t use commas in this case any longer. First you got rid of the full stop after Mr and Mrs, then the apostrophy disappeared from place-name and business signs, the hyphen in on the decline… It’s hard to keep up.

Hardly anyone understands the rules for apostrophe – drives me mad!
